Hot Cocoa Peppermint Bark
There’s something about peppermint and hot cocoa that feels like pure Christmas magic. Once December hits I crave those cozy, nostalgic flavors, the kind that make you want to curl up under a blanket and watch a holiday movie. This Hot Cocoa Peppermint Bark is exactly that feeling in dessert form. It’s festive, it’s adorable and it’s the easiest treat to whip up when you want something sweet without spending hours in the kitchen. If you’ve seen the TikTok, you already know how cute this one turns out. It’s basically Christmas spirit… but make it chocolate.

I love this recipe because it’s incredibly simple, but looks like something you picked up from a holiday boutique. The base is smooth milk chocolate almond bark mixed with a spoonful of hot cocoa mix for that cozy flavor, then a pretty drizzle of white chocolate melted over the top. Finish it with crushed candy canes and mini dehydrated marshmallows and suddenly you’ve got a picture-perfect hot cocoa swirl. No baking, no fuss. Just melt, swirl, sprinkle, chill and snap into pieces.
Helpful Tips & Variations
- Use almond bark for smooth melting: It melts easier than real chocolate and never seizes.
- Don’t skip the parchment: It makes removing and breaking the bark almost effortless.
- Add toppings quickly: The bark sets fast, so sprinkle your candy canes and marshmallows while the chocolate is still warm.
- Peppermint Mocha Bark: Add ½ teaspoon instant coffee to the hot cocoa chocolate layer.
- White Chocolate Swirl: Use a toothpick to drag the white chocolate into pretty swoops and marbled patterns.
- Festive Sprinkles: Add red, green, or pastel sprinkles on top for a fun twist.

kcalA festive no bake Christmas bark made with almond bark, hot cocoa mix, crushed candy canes and mini marshmallows, the perfect holiday treat!
Ingredients
8 oz milk chocolate almond bark
6 oz white almond bark
1 tablespoon hot cocoa mix
2–3 tablespoons crushed candy canes
2 tablespoons mini dehydrated marshmallows
Directions
- Prep the pan: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a parchment-style baking mat.
- Melt the milk chocolate layer: Add the milk chocolate almond bark to a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth.
- Add hot cocoa mix: Stir in the hot cocoa mix until the chocolate is smooth and fully combined.
- Spread the base layer: Pour the hot-cocoa chocolate onto the prepared sheet and spread into an even layer, about ¼-inch thick.
- Melt the white chocolate: Melt the white almond bark the same way — in 30-second intervals until smooth.
- Drizzle + swirl: Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the milk chocolate layer.
- Swirl lightly with a toothpick or knife for a marbled effect.
- Add toppings: Sprinkle crushed candy canes and mini dehydrated marshmallows evenly over the top.
- Chill: Place the sheet in the fridge for 20–30 minutes, or until fully set.
- Break into pieces: Once hardened, break into rustic pieces. Enjoy!
Notes
- The white chocolate drizzle amount is flexible — add more for a thicker swirl or less for a minimal look.
- If your candy canes start to melt on top, store the bark loosely covered instead of airtight.
- Hot cocoa mix can vary; choose one that tastes good on its own for best results.
Storage & Freezing Tips
- Store bark in an airtight container at room temperature for 4–5 days.
- Keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
- Freeze in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 2 months. Place parchment between layers to prevent sticking. Thaw at room temperature (keep in the container so condensation forms on the outside, not on the chocolate).
